Illinois Watch Co. sold to Hamilton Watch Co. in 1927
The Illinois factory continued to produce Illinois watches under the new management until 1932. Hamilton produced watches bearing the Illinois name to their own factory until 1939.
The watch present here for sale has just been removed from my collection; and is a very rare early **DEAN MODEL produced by the first company in 1874. 18 size, hunting Full plate gilt, 15 jewels, key wind and key set, marked: DEAN/Springfield, (Illinois went on to produce 5 million watches), Illinois serial No. 60,834. Mint white porcelain dial signed: Springfield Watch Co./ ILLINOIS. 4oz. coin silver key wind hunting case with a crest and no personalization anywhere. Very clean, running and still accurate.
