HAMPDEN 17 JEWEL RAILWAY TWO-TONE SALESMANS DISPLAY Circa: 1880. Quite rare, and a very low number. Actually, this model was sold for official Railroad time keeping in 1880. Remember, this was sold approximately 12 years before the convention held in 1982 in Chicago, Illinois to establish railroad standard watch requirements beginine with 19j. This example is double singed: both the movement and dial. What is interesing is that the plates are two-tone with very bright colors (yellow and nickel). This movement has bold, bright color, and is especially interesting as a early American Railroad Model Grade. Clean, running.

DIAL: Extremely rare double sunken white porcelain dial with lots of hairlines and a large chip repair. Signed: "RAILWAY", and "17 Jewels". I forgive the condition, because it's so rare! MOVEMENT: 18 size, open face, lever set, nickel and yellow two-tone damaskening, "Railway", and "17 Jewels", "ADJUSTED", #364,17. Impressive.
