ELGIN G.M. WHEELER KEY WIND/ STEM WIND TRANSITION 3oz. SILVER HUNTING CASE C: 1873. Note the rare original goold bow guards and gold stem support. Historical example of what the Cowboy and gun fighter of the American old west wore. This Elgin is epically interesting and collectible because it was converted by the Elgin Factory in Elgin, Illinois from a key wind to a stem wind. The owner can both wind it with a key or wind it up by the crown. The factory did this because more and more individuals demanded a convenient stem wind rather than the sometimes difficult procedure of winding and setting it with a key. The mint original porcelain dial and original heavy 3oz. coin silver case adds to value. Just serviced, this early wild west silver hunting case is clean, running and accurate.

CASE: 18 size, hunting model with polished surfaces and a blank shield. 3oz. coin silver. This is the original case to this movement; Circa: 1873!
