21j LORD ELGIN 14k GOLD JUMBO RETANGULAR SUB. SECONDS Circa: 1937. Fine and Rare Art Deco Jumbo. 25mm in diameter without the crown, by 40mm in length, by 8mm thick, and 17mm bracelet diameter. Rare Art Deco style reaching the absolute limits of wristwatch size for it's time. This watch was the best and most expensive Elgin Watch Co. offered in the late 1930s. Elgin watch Co. produced some 40 million pocket and wristwatches since 1868. This model represented the very best Elgin had to offer; 1) Long curved retangular design, incorporating Art Deco style with a modern look; 2) High Grade 21 Jewel movement, and 3) Solid 14k Yellow Gold. Everything is original; most importantly, the dial. The Flexable yellow gold filled bracelet is original and also in neaer mint condition. This bracelet allows a fit on any mid to Extra lrge mens wrist size. Not suprisingly, this watch looks good on a gentlemans wrist, even today! Clean, running and very desirable, and especially collectible.
THIS IS A FINE COLLECTIBLE. DON'T INVEST IN THE STOCK MARKET. BUY SOMETHING PROVEN IN TIME.
DIAL: Original two-tone with a slightly yellowed silver satin surface surrounded by a white seconds trrack and sub. seconds circle. Signed with the Elgin Star "LORD ELGIN" marked in an arc. Very impressive. MOVEMENT: 3/4 Plate nickel, sgined: "21 Jewels", and #37,126,662. Free of distraction, clena, running and still accurate. CASE: Solid 14k Yellow Gold snap back with a glass crystal built for this model and Elgin National Watch Co. by ".W.C.Co." (Illinois Watch Case Co.). All original, free of dents, damage, or appreciable wear. 24mm in diameter without the crown by 40mm in length lug end to lug end; and 9mm thick. At 40mm in length, this watch is among the largest of the late 1930s produced by anybody. Only the Gruen Majestic Model exceeded this length at 43mm but was much narrower in diameter.
