NEW YORK WATCH Co.

In 1866 the name of this company was changed from the Mozart Watch Co. to the New York Watch Co. and was in Rhode Island. Before any watches were sold, they moved to Springfield, Mass. In 1867. A factory was built there, but only about 100 watches were produced before a fire occurred on April 23, 1870. Shortly after the fire, in 1870, a newly designed watch was introduced. The New York Watch Co. used full signatures on it’s movements. The doors closed in the summer of 1876. In January 1877, the Hampden Watch Co. was organized and commenced active operation in June 1877. THIS IS A FINE COLLECTIBLE. DON'T INVEST IN BONDS or STOCKS. BUY HARD ASSETS PROVEN IN TIME.
This example is NEW YORK W.Co. Springfield, Mass. "CHESTER WOOLWORTH" Circa: 1873. This Grade is named after the famous Woolworth Marketeer of this period. Rare original STERLING SILVER Key Wind Open Face Case made by the Waltham Watch Co. 2 1/2 oz. of Sterling Silver. The movement is original to this case and is full plate nickel, key wind and key set, 15 jewels, Marked "Chester Woolworth/Springfield, Mass." Serial No. 52,058. Very clean, running and still accurate! The single sunk white porcelain dial is single sunk, mint; free of any distraction and marked; "NEW YORK WATCH Co." Excellent original double hinged back and bezel. Very nice and all completely original.
