This watch is a historic discovery, representing the best of Los Angeles, in 1904. The first jewelry store ever in Los Angeles, Montgomery Bros, founded in 1881, touted as the "Tiffany's" of the West Coast. They grew and became the largest jewelry store on the West coast in 1899. The company closed business in 1930, after many successful decades. This watch was marked with the store name on the dial and was sold exclusively by Montgomery Bros, Los Angeles. This watch was sold as the highest grade watch possible in 1904. It is completely original!
ELGIN 23j VERITAS 18 Size Montgomery Bros.Los Angeles clearly marked on this original white porcelain Arabic figures dial; Masonic No. 319 marked inside of the back of the original case. Circa: 1904. Wonderful plain polished original Fahys 25 Year PATENTED swing out designed case. Serial No. 8,401,631. Marked: VERITAS 23 Jewels, and all solid 14k yellow gold wheels (time train) and all 14k capped screw down jewel settings, lever set, ADJUSTED. Very clean, running and still very accurate! THIS IS A FINE COLLECTIBLE. DON'T INVEST IN THE STOCK MARKET. BUY SOMETHING PROVEN IN TIME.
