UNITED STATES WATCH Co. Marion Watch Co. Marion New Jersey 1865 – 1877

The United States Watch Company was chartered in 1865, and the factory building was started in August 1865 and was completed in 1866. The first watch, called “The Frederic Atherton” was not put on the market until March, 1867. It was Americas first mass produced stem wind watch. The first Grade was 18s, 19 Jewels, full plate and a gilt finish movement. A distinctive feature of the company’s full plate movements was the butterfly shaped patented opening in the plate which allowed escapement inspection That same year a second grade called the “Fayette Stratton” was introduced. It was also a gilt finish, full plate movement. The year 1875 hit the watch industry the hardest; price cutting was predatory and the higher priced watches of the United States Watch Company was particularly vulnerable. The Centennial Exposition in 1876 was not enough to save the faltering company and they finally closed their doors in 1877. Only 60,000 watches were produced during the 10 years of their existence. They were the most expensive American pocket watches of their day!

Rare DATE Model.  Commonly refered to among collectors as "The Big Triangle" (because of the shap of 12 'Clock figure).  By 1976 (a latter version of the same watch) this figure because a square smaller figure to make room for more descriptive print.  All original and in excellent condition.  Circa: 1970.  OMEGA Automatic Seamaster 300 Caliber 565 24 Jewels.  Reference No. 165024-64 S.C. Rotating Black 30 minute Dive Bezel, Original dial with Luminous baton figures and luminous hands with sweep second. This bracelet is for the earlier Rolex President models 1968 - 1981/2 with holes in the lugs. 1803 Presidents without holes did not exist until 1983/4 Ref. 18083. This original, genuine Rolex bracelet was also sold with the 20mm fit requirement of the Rolex Date Just Models 1601, 1600, 16083 (1981 - 1982). The Reference is "76" and is located on each end link (President Model ref. No.). The "7206" No. you see on some bracelets simply date its production date to June 1972. Some had date marks and some did not. Most authorized dealerships did not want the Dates on the bracelets because customers thought that they were used when they became over a year old, and the dealers had difficulty selling them "as new". Bracelets were produced by Rolex in Europe and separately in the Americas. They were separately produced, and the European examples had the "Cameo" and the bracelets produced by Rolex for the U.S. and South America did not (.750 or 18k was sufficient).

This bracelet is the correct and only original authentic bracelet Rolex sold for the Daytona Ref. 6239 and 6263 in 18k yellow solid gold. Rolex produced the 19mm Reference "71" specifically for the early Daytona Models, which had holes on both sides of the lugs to accommodate the installation and removal of the bracelet.
